With a Global Pass, you can travel freely in up to 33 countries in Europe. 

A One Country Pass is valid for the country stated on the pass. Here you can travel for 3, 4, 5, 6, or 8 days during your 1-month travel period. You choose the number of travel days you want.

An Interrail Global Pass gives you access to 33 countries: 

Belgium, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Ireland/Northern Ireland, Italy Croatia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Switzerland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Great Britain, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Germany, Hungary and Austria. 

You can also take ferries from Attica Group on some routes between Italy and Greece. However, you should expect to pay an additional fee during the peak season. 

Yes. A Global Pass issued in Denmark is valid for one outward and return journey in Denmark. 

Yes. An interrail pass is personal. It cannot be transferred to someone else, and it is only valid against presentation of passport or other documentation replacing a passport. 

Children travel for free (except for seat reservations and additional fees) when they travel in the company of an adult and are under the age of 12. A maximum of two children can travel for free with an adult. Each child must have its own Interrail Pass. For Global Pass, children under the age of 12 travelling alone or who cannot travel for free with an adult must pay the price for “Ung til og med 27” (Youth up to and including 27 years)

There is no interrail ticket for dogs. If you want to travel with your dog, you must buy a ticket from the individual train operators. Please note that different countries have different rules for taking dogs on the train. 

Your interrail pass is valid for the class stated on the pass (interrail pass for 1 class is also valid for 2nd class). If you have an interrail pass for 2nd class, you can travel 1st class by paying the difference in price between an ordinary 1st-class and 2nd-class ticket. 

You cannot begin your journey until 12.01 am on the first date of validity, and you must complete your journey at midnight on the last date of validity stated on the interrail pass. 

The interrail pass is valid for the duration stated in the pass. If the pass is valid for a number of days within a period of your own choosing, you must enter the date of the chosen travel date in the travel diary in the pass before the first day of travel begins. The date field must be filled out using a pen. Do not use a pencil.                                        

If the journey starts with a direct night train or a direct train with seats that travels at night, you must enter the date of departure in the pass. If you change trains the following day, you must also state that day as a travel day. 

Before you get on a train, bus or boat, you must enter the journey in the Travel Diary. The date field must be filled out using a pen. Do not use a pencil. The Travel Diary is part of the sleeve for your Global Pass. Read Interrail Pass Guide, (PDF), for more information. 

If you have not entered the travel date in the diary, you risk getting a fine of up to EUR 200.  

If you travel with an unlimited Interrail Global Pass (valid for all days in a chosen travel period), you do not need to activate your travel days.

Before starting a travel day, you must enter the date and destination for the travel in question in your Travel Diary. Remember to use black or blue ink (not a pencil). You are then ready to get on the train.  

If you travel with an unlimited Interrail Global Pass (valid for all days in a chosen travel period), you do not need to activate your travel days. 

With Interrail Global Pass, you can travel unlimited on rail routes operated by the companies that have joined Interrail Global Pass. If you have bought your Global Pass in Denmark, you have one outward and return journey in Denmark that you must enter in the pass before your journey begins.

The interrail pass is also valid for some ferry links between Greece and Italy. Other ferry links often offer a discount if you have an interrail pass.

The provisions of the Convention concerning the Carriage of Passengers and Luggage by Rail, CIV, apply to journeys on interrail pass. 

You must present your interrail to the train staff at each inspection together with an official proof of identity (e.g. your passport), the number of which must be stated on your interrail pass. 

If you are unable to present an official proof of identity, the number of which must be stated on the interrail pass (typically a passport number), the train staff may charge you for a regular ticket and a penalty fare in accordance with the rules of the train operator in question. If data have been altered or changed, the pass has been forged or is being used by a person other than the one to whom it has been issued, or if it is used outside the validity period, the train staff might confiscate the interrail pass and charge the fare of the journey plus a penalty fare of up to EUR 100 in the local currency. 

Yes. You must bring your passport or other valid identification document (copies are not accepted) when you travel on an interrail pass – this is so that you can prove your citizenship and because your passport number is written on your interrail pass. 

Your interrail pass is personal and only valid when accompanied by a passport or other valid identification document. You must present the ID document on the train stated in your interrail pass. 

Unfortunately, you cannot get a replacement pass if lose your interrail pass. It is the same if it is stolen. Unfortunately. 

An interrail pass that has yet to be validated and is handed in at the point of sale before the first date of validity will be refunded in full*.  

An interrail pass handed in at the point of sale after the first date of validity is only refundable if it has been provided with a stamp with the text ‘UNUSED’ on the back by the railway operator before the first date of validity. The price of the pass will be refunded less any handling fee. In all other cases (e.g. loss, theft, partial use), you will not be entitled to any refund or compensation. The request for refund must be made within one month of the last date of validity. 

*Does not apply to interrail passes bought at a discount during campaigns. Passes bought at a discount cannot be changed or refunded. If you get a new name or a new passport, please contact DSB Kundecenter Udland. They will be able to help you get a new interrail pass. However, please note that you will have to the pay the difference between the interrail pass you bought at a discount and the price of an interrail pass at the time of the change. 

Eurail Group’s compensation rules apply when you travel through Europe with an Interrail One Country Pass or Interrail Global Pass. The amount of compensation depends on the validity and price of the interrail pass. 

One Country Pass  

You are entitled to compensation if you travel on a One Country Pass and experience one or more journeys that are at least 60 minutes delayed during the validity period of the pass. 

Interrail Global Pass 

You are entitled to compensation if you travel on a Global Pass and experience one or more travels that are at least 60 minutes delayed during the validity period of the pass.

If there are no available seats for interrail travellers on the train you want to take, you can buy a single-ride ticket for that part of the journey. Alternatively, you can find another connection or choose a connection with a regional train without seat reservation.
