Train Components

DSB Togkomponenter represents a number of specialised workshops with many years of experience and know-how, which perform component maintenance, preparation and repair of locomotives and freight cars.

We use this expertise to maintain DSB’s own rolling stock, but we also solve a number of tasks for Danish and foreign businesses.

We perform work on bogies, wheels, engines, gears, generators, brakes and electronic components.

DSB Togkomponenter has a DANAK accredited calibration laboratory.
 

A wide range of state-of-the-art equipment is used to locate errors and subsequent testing ensures high quality for both traditional electronics and leading-edge computer controls (e.g. ATC systems).

The workshop also offers PIC programming and EPROM burning services.

We perform maintenance and testing of fixed as well as mobile radio installations.

Our work is certified according to EN 100015-1, consequently ensuring the correct ESD environment for work with electronics.

Inspection and repair of AC and DC motors as well as generators and dynamos.

We have our own winding facilities, which also enable rewinding, weighing and VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) and painting of all kinds of motors and generators. We can handle everything from small electric motors to generators of 2 Mwatt or more.

In addition we perform inspection and repair of electric control boards, cables, sensors, contactors, etc.

Processing of wheel profiles, brake discs, tyred wheels and wheel axles through reprofiling and turning using CNC machines.

Other tasks include pressing and cold pressing of wheels and inspection and cleaning of roller bearings.

We handle bogies of up to 25 tons, perform thorough cleaning, detection of cracks, welding, sand-blasting and painting as well as measuring, alignment and adjustment.

Inspection of bearings, axles, gears and cardans as well as repair and replacement of all bogie components.

A complete bogie overhaul includes i.a. disassembly of brake rigging and wheel suspensions. Insofar as wheel suspensions are concerned, all springs are compression tested and the leakproofness of the various compressed air systems is tested. Brake equipment and brake-rod adjuster are inspected. The inspection is concluded with a performance test of the entire braking system according to the standards supplied by the customer.

Upon completion of the work, a final inspection file is created so that all safety parts can be traced. 

The workshop section for engines, which is authorised by Deutz, works with all components for Deutz diesel engines types 413 and 513 – restoration of fuel pumps, apex joints, on-board electricity supply systems, etc.

The engines are tested in our workshop test beds after completion of the inspection. The test is, according to a carefully planned programme, concluded with an electronic print of a test report.

Fuel pumps are tested in a Ketner bench test and here we also follow the latest principles insofar as technology and environmental matters are concerned. The test is concluded with an electronic print for each pump. The workshop keeps the historical data for the individual engine components on file.

We are currently building a new engine workshop that will enable inspection of Iveco engines based on the latest 222 technology.

A specialist section deals with maintenance and testing of ZF gears, axle gears, generator gears as well as all kinds of reciprocating piston compressors and screw compressors. 

The workshop section for compressed air is authorised by KNORR. This section performs maintenance, repair and testing of compressed air components for braking systems for all train types.

Here all components are given an overhaul, from magnetic valves to complete control boards for modern train sets such as IC3 and ER4.

All components handled by our workshop are tested thoroughly before delivery. We have approx. 70 test beds which e.g. can simulate a complete braking system for IC3 train sets.

Furthermore we inspect hydraulic components for i.a. braking systems.

Solid experience and highly qualified employees enable our workshop to provide customised solutions in connection with internal fittings.

We reupholster seats and panels, if required, and we also offer manufacture and installation of curtains.

The production is very flexible and structured to effectively and economically satisfy individual needs and special standards.

Meticulous and responsible maintenance of rolling stock is an important prerequisite for stable train production. We offer maintenance of locomotives and freight cars alike.

We specialise in GM locomotives. Many years of experience with these diesel-electric locomotives have ensured DSB Togkompo-nenter the position as one of the leading workshops in this area.

A special area of competence is inspection of GM turbo-compressors.

The systematic maintenance extends from the least comprehensive operational inspec-tions to major general inspections. All systematic maintenance tasks are performed according to approved maintenance plans.

Our employees have the requisite certificates for working with safety systems.

Maintenance and rebuilding of freight cars.

All maintenance work is performed according to Danish, German and international regulatory requirements.

Our specially-equipped workshop cars perform most repairs of freight cars close to train operation, thus avoiding delaying workshop visits.

As part of DSB’s strategy, part of the current rolling stock will be replaced by train sets. This means that the current rolling stock will be offered for sale in the coming years. The following locomotives and passenger cars are currently offered for sale.

See list at the right. We also offer a limited range of spare parts and repaired spare parts to be reused for sale.

Universal locomotive designed for remote control from a control trailer and for remote control from another locomotive of the same type. The locomotive has asynchronous motors and can haul 1100 tons at a speed of 120 km/h on a horizontal track.

It can start a 1400 tons freight train at gradients of 15.6% as the haulage capacity can be increased to 300 kN.

Data

Diesel-electric locomotive from Henschel in Germany with a light bogie structure and AC transmission. The diesel engine is from General Motors. The ME is a universal locomotive which has also been designed for remote control from a control trailer.

A final agreement of sale cannot be concluded until 2006-2007 as DSB is currently using the locomotives for traffic production.

Data ME

Passenger car, rolling stock class Bn, for regional traffic. The car is a UIC standard version of a DB local train car. The Bn car is an open saloon coach with two entry areas with double doors in either side to ensure quick entrance and exit at stations.
